Sean LaPerruque (violin, viola, keys)
Founder, Director
 

Sean LaPerruque has been a performer, music educator and music contractor providing live music in San Diego since 2000.  As a contractor, Sean has 13 years of experience in wedding music coordination and performance.  Sean plays violin in the Rolando Quartet and Rolando Duo, and plays viola with the Rolando Trio.

 

Additionally, Sean is proud to maintain a professional theatre performance schedule in parallel with contracting and teaching.  He was recently Music Director for Noah Longton’s & Diversionary Theatre’s Cabaret production of Altar Boyz, for which he won a 2012 Scenie Award for Best Musical Direction from StageSceneLA.

 

Recent theatre work:

  • Music Director/Piano/Conductor with Coronado Playhouse (Pageant). 

  • Concertmaster/Violin I with San Diego Musical Theatre (Chicago, White Christmas, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat).

  • Violin/viola/keys with Cygnet Theatre (Parade, Company). 

  • Principal Viola with City Ballet of San Diego (Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Romeo and Juliet). 

  • Other performances: Rigoletto (violin; California Italian Opera Festival), Sweeney Todd (violin/viola; Francis Parker Upper School), Spring Awakening (violin/keys; American Rose Theatre).  SD Junior Theatre productions (violin, viola, keys) since 2008: The Sound of Music, Hairspray, Beauty and the Beast, Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka, Seussical, You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, Oliver!, Les Misérables, The Wizard of Oz, Thoroughly Modern Millie.  Violin at Moonlight Amphitheatre (Dames at Sea, Peter Pan, The King and I).

 

As a music educator, Sean is currently a violin/viola teacher with Carlsbad Strings Education Association (CSEA) and string orchestra instructor (violin, viola, cello) at Rancho Santa Fe public schools.  He also maintains a studio of private violin, viola and piano students.

 

Sean earned his B.S. in Bioengineering: Premed from UCSD, minoring in music (violin performance).

Caitlin Fahey
 

Caitlin began her cello career at age six after seeing a child-size violin and asking her parents for music lessons. Her cello teachers have included Anne Cole, Dr. David Schepps and Vivian Barton. She currently studies with Yao Zhao, principal cello of the San Diego Symphony.

 

Caitlin holds a B.U.S. in Pre-Med Studies with a German minor from the University of New Mexico, a M.Ed. from Loyola University and a Montessori Primary Diploma from the Association Montessori Internationale. Her primary passion is string pedagogy with particular respect to the Suzuki Method, which she studies under the guidance of Dr. Tanya Carey. She is currently certified in Suzuki Cello Books 1-4, with plans to someday reach Book 10.

 

Caitlin runs the cello program for the Carlsbad Strings Education Association, maintains a private cello studio in La Jolla, is on the faculty at the Villa Musica School, freelances with regional and local orchestras, holds the Assistant Principal Cello position in the La Jolla Symphony and has been principal Cello in the City Ballet Orchestra.  She currently plays cello in the Rolando Quartet.  In her spare time she enjoys traveling, surfing and practicing yoga.

Susan Monteiro
 

Susan Monteiro has performed in many orchestras and chamber ensembles in Ohio, West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Indiana.  She is also an experienced freelancer in San Diego, currently playing viola in the Rolando Quartet.

 

As an educator, Sue is a certified Suzuki Instructor, having studied with Michelle George and Mary Kay Neal.  She is currently a violin and viola teacher with Carlsbad Strings Education Association (CSEA) and has been teaching violin and viola privately for 20 years.
 

Susan received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Northern Arizona University and also attended the University of Cincinnati and Cleveland State University.  She studied privately with two former students of Dorthy Delay:  Professor Daniel Rains at Cleveland State University and Dr. Won-Bin Yim at the University of Cincinnati.

Michael Tagart
 

Michael Tagart began playing viola and cello at the age of twelve and violin at the age of fourteen. He attended San Diego State University on a full scholarship and held a position in the university's resident string quartet.

 

Michael enjoys contributing his talents to local and national charities and foundations. He has performed in concerts benefiting the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, Resounding Joy Inc., Kiwanis Club of San Diego, Camp Hope, The TomorrowProject, and Becky's House.

 

In addition to playing for weddings in the San Diego area (including the Rolando Duo) and performing in numerous professional productions, Michael is also a studio musician; his discography includes collaborations with Jane Lui, Al Howard, Aaron Bowen, and many more.

 

Michael is the founder and artistic director of the Notre Temps String Ensemble, an ensemble dedicated to providing music making opportunities to members of the San Diego community regardless of age or musical ability.

 

Michael Tagart has been teaching for over fifteen years, both privately and in the public/private schools. He has successfully prepared students for college auditions and has had several students attend university on performance scholarships.

Steven Hardy
 

Steven Hardy is a San Diego native and has been an active orchestral and free-lance musician in the community for over 25 years.  He is the principal flutist of the Tifereth Israel Community Orchestra (TICO), and the San Diego Festival Chorus Orchestra. In the 2012 season, Steven was a featured soloist with TICO, performing Vivaldi’s Concerto in G Minor (La Notte).  

 

He also performs regularly with the Con Brio Classical Trio and the Rolando Trio. He has been a featured soloist at many local charity events for the American Red Cross, Children’s Hospital, and the Salvation Army, performing such works as the Poulenc Sonata for flute and piano, the Mozart Concerto in D Major, and Claude Bolling’s Suite for flute and jazz piano.

 

Mr. Hardy holds a M.S. in healthcare management and radiologic sciences, and is the director of Radiation Oncology and Imaging for Genesis Healthcare. Despite a busy career, he could not imagine not maintaining an active musical life.
